Naturopath

I just got back from taking Leslie to the Naturopath. It was so nice to have a doctor actually listen to me, allow me to add my input, and give non-invasive advice. Can you believe the doctor actually sat down with me and had a normal conversation? What a freeing time. I don't think I'll be returning to the ER for anything unless it's broken or bleeding again. I'm so glad I have someone to call on when I'm nervous about Leslie's health.

  2. I had to google naturopath to know what that was! :) That sounds interesting. Thankfully, we are blessed with a good prediatrician who does listen to us and is even ok with us delaying immunizations. I appreciate that. As far as what immunizations we give, it has differed between our children, and we plan to limit even more with our next children. I prefer to give less shots at a time, and I think for our next child, we may try to do just one at a time. It seems like a lot on an infants immune system to bombard them with so many immunizations at a time. That said, we have waited on the Hep B shot for both kids, since our lifestyle (including I keep my children home and not in daycare) does not necessatate that shot at this time in their life. We also waited on the Rotovirus vaccine for Josiah (They gave it to Moriah w/o my knowledge. Since then, I have learned to always ask what they are giving my child before they inject them!) That particular vaccine had been pulled from the market years ago due to complications children experienced, and it had just been brought back to the market when Moriah was an infant. I do not feel it has had sufficient case studies to seem safe for my children. We also choose not to do the Chicken Pox vaccine. I know that the chicken pox can be harmful, but I do not think the risk with the illness outweighs the risk of the vaccine. Like you, I worry about the link between autism and vaccines. Those are the vaccines I know we avoid, just off the top of my head. Oh, and we do not do the flu vaccine. There is so much conflicting information about the benefits and risks of vaccines.
I had not heard of cells from aborted babies being used in vaccines. Do you have any links or info on that? I would be interested in knowing more.

  3. I have a handout from www.vaccine-education.com. I haven't visited the website, but my handout is called "What's in a Vaccine?" and under the bullet point "human & animal cells" it says, "Human cells from aborted fetal tissue and human albumin. Pig blood, horse blood, rabbit brain, guinea pig, dog kidney, cow heart, monkey kidney, chick embryo, chicken egg, duck egg, calf serum, sheep blood, and others." Also under the bullet point, "mercury (thimerosal)", it says, "One of the most poisonous substances known. Has an affinity for the brain, gut, liver, bone marrow and kidneys. Minute amounts can cause nerve damage. Symptoms of mercury toxicity are similar to those of autism."
I hope the website helps more though. I'll take a look when I'm finished posting this.
